Grass fire season ramps up with 4 blazes near Saskatoon

Four significant grass fires near Saskatoon kept fire crews busy Tuesday.

The first blaze began near Buck's Auto Wrecking, southwest of the city around 8:18 a.m. The fire department said it was sparked when a loader hit a power pole, dislodging the lines.

Crews were on scene for nearly three and a half hours putting it out.

Another fire started near Grasswood Road and Clarence Avenue just before 11 a.m. when a controlled burn got away from the owner.
